Ethnic jazz "Kathmandu Fusion band" and sitarist Anatoly Popov
As part of the concert series "Melodic Avant-Garde", the "Kathmandu Fusion Band" will perform in M/Darbnīca with an improvised music session inspired by the traditional Indian Raga. The Raga is an element in the Indian classical music tradition, it is a melodic structure for improvisation. Each raga stands out with musical motives that are considered in Indian tradition to be able to "colour the mind" and influence the viewer's emotions.
Kathmandu Fusion Band is an international multicultural project created by sitarist Anatoly Popov. Anatoly is one of the most active ambassadors of oriental culture and music in Latvia. He is a direct apprentice to Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar, who has become the world's best-known representative of Northern Oriental classical music and has inspired many musicians around the world. We will have the honour to experience the ancient Indian tradition in life which Anatoly received from his teacher.
DJ Noid'or helps maintain a special atmosphere before and after the concert.
